Scope note
Attic Greek red-figure pottery, primarily vases, found at Kerch in the Ukraine and North Africa. It is characterized by the adoption of new techniques, the use of gold and other colors, and tall figures. The term was first applied in the 19th century, but is rarely used by modern scholars, who generally do not feel that the common characteristics of the individual painters are distinctive enough to define a separate style.
